Parque de Atracciones made a stand by launching Abismo in 2006, an extended version of SkyLoop by Maurer Söhne for which Skywheel modelled earlier at Skyline Park in Germany.
The park already had a good experience with this German coaster builder and their spectacular spinning coaster, Tarantula. Maurer had invited the people of Madrid Skyline Park to convince them of the possibilities SkyWheel expand to a full roller coaster. The current design in Madrid would be even further expanded. Now there is quite a surprising and abrupt end to an exciting and fun ride anyway.
The attraction itself is part of the innovative concept Maurer X-Car, a coaster wagon that allows inversions to take, without the coroner needed braces. The builder dares them to demand that the first builder to have developed such a concept, but they may forget Schwarzkopf. All we have to add that the German company, one of Schwarzkopf's legacy has taken over.
What is a SkyWheel anyway? Well it starts with a vertical lift. This is now no longer so new, just think of Typhoon in Bobbejaanland. But it takes the top quarter running backwards, so you're upside down, you roll then continue in a screw element, a heart roll to be exact, and then in half a barrel down to dive. With a height of 46 meters, this gives a speed of 105 km / h on. A SkyWheel line back at the station where the car is stopped in the vertical lift portion. In Madrid, the visitors are further challenged with an element that invented the name "half Cuban eight" inherits. Maurer and park ever dare this element as an inversion-defining element, but because the visitor does not completely insane, or beyond the limit of 180 ° rotated, by the most renowned sites are not counted as inversion element. The fact remains that this element is not only fun to race through it, but also attractive looks. What follows is a camel hump with a vengeance, which provides the necessary portion airtime. This is followed by a steeply sloping curve of less than 127 degrees before the train to tour preys in a surprising final drop. Upon arrival, one can not fly directly into the brakes, but as with SkyWheel dives train back on the lift hill, then back to be hoisted back into the station. Obviously this gives a tremendous sensation, but the drawback is that capacity is woefully low in a country that has not known for rapid-ride controls. In a train could slehts 12 people participated, split into two wagons. The theoretical capacity is 550 persons per hour, which is disappointingly low as one of the top attractions in the park.
Because it must be said, the ride is worth it, even if it takes the trip unfortunately not for long. Therefore, it is really hoped that the park decided to go for extension 2. Then the roller coaster over 1000m in length, and capacity would almost double. The question is whether this is for the park profitable enough for the park.
