Minister finally approves plans Walibi

2011-11-WB-Vuurwerk

The Belgian Walibi-park, nearby Brussels, has finally received authorization for more firework permits per year. The reopening of Turbine however may be delayed again for a year or even more.

Good news and bad news for Walibi Belgium

Following a two-year battle, the environmental minister of Wallony, Philip Henry, has authorised the revision of environmental permits for Walibi Belgium. This will allow the park to host up to 10 fireworks displays per year and stay open until 11PM for special events.

The minister also approved Walibi's plans to renovate its Turbine roller coaster, which was closed due to noise complaints. Although plans existed longer, this process of approval was not yet done. At this point the park can finally start to do the ordering of special parts and a new train. The rollercoaster classic from Schwarzkopf, will be entirely covered, including the two open ends of the shuttle coaster and also the queuing area. It is rumored that Turbine will be reopened by 2013 or worst case even in 2014.
